This table uses the official dates of the 2027 joint decree where there are any, computed dates for fixed holidays and Easter, and an estimate for the start of Ramadan. The "days left" figure is counted from the page update date; the countdown above uses your current time.

How the Eid date is set

The Hijri calendar follows the moon. Shawwal begins when the hilal, the first crescent, is seen after sunset. The government combines hisab, astronomical computation, with rukyat, observation at dozens of sites, in an isbat session chaired by the Minister of Religious Affairs. The ruling is announced the same evening, as with the Eid al-Fitr 1446 ruling. The decree issued a year earlier already contains the computed date, and that date usually stands.

The conjunction, the new moon, occurs on the afternoon of Monday, 8 March 2027. At sunset that day the new moon is about an hour and a half old, too low to be seen. Ramadan 1448 is therefore completed at thirty days and 1 Shawwal falls on Wednesday, 10 March 2027. Details are on Eid 2027 and Ramadan 2027.
