Vesak (Waisak) 2571 BE falls on Thursday, 20 May 2027 under the 2027 decree, with collective leave on Wednesday 19 May. Vesak marks three events in the life of the Buddha: his birth, his enlightenment and his passing, which tradition places on the full moon of the month of Vesak. In 2027 Vesak falls three days after Eid al-Adha on Monday 17 May, and collective leave on 18 and 19 May joins the two. The result is a six-day break from Saturday 15 to Thursday 20 May, and with one leave day on Friday 21 May, nine days to Sunday 23 May, the best leave opportunity of 2027. The national Vesak celebration is usually centred on the Mendut and Borobudur temples in Central Java, with a procession from Mendut to Borobudur and a lantern release. In 2026, Vesak 2570 BE fell on Sunday 31 May, the day before Pancasila Day.

The 2026 and 2027 dates come from the 2026 decree and the 2027 decree. The Vesak date in Indonesia is set with the Buddhist councils; this site does not compute it, so the 2028 date awaits the next decree.
Vesak and Eid al-Adha in one week
Eid al-Adha and Vesak in the same week will not happen again for a long time: Eid al-Adha moves eleven days earlier each year, while Vesak stays around May. By 2028 Eid al-Adha falls in early May. For workers, the week of 15 to 23 May 2027 is a rare chance of a long break for a single leave day.
All the leave opportunities of that month are on May 2027 holidays, and the plan for a full year on long weekends 2027.
